A Sleeveless Kind of Summer Girl

It's a hot one today folks! I don't think I've worn sleeves all week. I'm not complaining! It's not 3 feet of snow so I sure ain't complaining. 

I picked this dress up at the free yard sale I go on and on about every year. I just wore it this one time. I ended up taking it over to my favorite consignment shop. I just kind of fell out of love with it. I mean, let's face it. It's suppose to be a dress and I had to wear it as a tunic. So I faced reality and sold it! But it was still too cute to not wear once.

Every day isn't fancy around these parts. Some days it's just jeans and a tee shirt. One thing that I keep in my bag of tricks is a bold color of lipstick that can add a splash of color to a simple outfit. Today I grabbed a deep burgundy color that just so happened matched this wall I was casually standing in front of...doing much of nothing...

Influenster & Ebay Gift Card

If you've been around these parts long enough you've heard me talk about Influenster before. Way back of now I entered the Ebay contest through Influenster where you had to write several Ebay reviews with a chance to win a $25 Ebay gift card. I've done my fair share of Ebay shopping so, yeah, I know my way around. I wrote my three reviews and happened to be one of the winners. Yay! It took awhile for my card to get here but it finally did. It took another few weeks for me to narrow down exactly what I wanted to spend it on. All of my well thought out gifts finally came in. Gifts? Gifts for others? Nope. That would've been the smart thing to do. That would've been the generous thing to do. I wasn't that forward thinking. It's all for me :)

Green with Envy Girl

I'm back down at Faye's! I got an itch do go a little retro the day I needed to go to my son's awards ceremony. I had this outfit set aside for a little while because I finally took the pants in to get them taken up in the waist. They never have fit well in the waist but I just never got around to taking them in. Finally I did and I am so happy that they are done. I love love love the color green and these pants are perfect for summer. Especially with my knee still being a problem. It still swells and hurts from the car accident a few months back. I have to wear a brace and pants hide the brace well. Also, I am not wearing my arm splint/cast here but not because I am free of it all together but I just go without it from time to time. 

I loved this outfit and it renewed my love for vintage and pinup hairstyles!

Anyway! Let me show you this cute little pin curl I learned how to do with my bangs. It totally helps that "growing out the bangs" period. I found a video on you tube and just knew I had to try it. I made a video too so I could show you how to do it. It's so crazy easy!!!

DIY T-shirt Scarf

I found this pin on Pinterest and decided to give it a try. It was really super easy. 

All you need is:

*a t-shirt

*scissors

Cut the top part off. Wherever you want to start is fine. I didn't want that little pocket in the scarf so I cut right under the pocket.

Here's one thing I did NOT do that I wish I would have. I should have cut the hem off the bottom. You'll see what I mean in a minute.

Cut slits up the bottom of the t-shirt like this:

All the way across

Start pulling each piece. This is where I didn't like the little "tabs" on the end from where the hem was.

I cut them off one by one

That's it!

You could add beads at this point or whatever you wanted to do to spice it up. I just kept it plain. 

This is a pin-win in my book. Easy to do. Took about 5 minutes. No fail recipe.

Sweater Dress Girl

Happy Friday everyone! I am off to volunteer at my son's school in the media center today. I love it because I love libraries! Fridays are the days that my son's class gets is scheduled to visit so I get to hang out with him too. Best of both worlds! 

This sweater dress was kind of an accidental purchase last year. I placed a bid for it on ebay thinking nah, I won't get it and ending up forgetting about it. Then got the email a few days later that it was mine. It was a good oops because it has been a nice cozy way to wear a dress in the cooler months.

 

Head Scarf Girl

Needing something interesting to do with this mop of hair in my head I headed over to Keiko's blog to do her version of the head scarf thingie. Her hair is always amazing and everything always looks fantastic on her. I feel like it fell flat on me though. It worked but I got tired of it shortly after this picture. I don't know, just didn't feel like me. I was very, very tired so maybe that had something to do with it. Maybe the huge, dark bags under my eyes just weren't feeling it. Ah well, it did fit the bill for changing it up a little bit and that's what I was going after.

DIY: Veggie Stamping

This DIY is super easy! But, when have I ever shown you a hard DIY? If it's too hard I don't finish it! I did not come up with this on my own - no way. I saw a post on natural stamping on Beautiful Mess ages and ages ago. The post I linked to is from August but I swear they have been celery stamping since they were babies.Well, little ole me just finally got around to doing it! I love love love how it turned out too.

Just cut the bottom part of the celery heart off. You've got to do this part fresh - if you cut this off and let it sit for a day...or a week...or two...it gets a less pretty shape to it.

I had a plain, cheap, lightweight, cream colored scarf that I thought would look great with black stamping

Stamp away! The variations of light stamps verses dark stamps - perfect. A smudge? Perfect. Whatever goes.
