Coffee Shop Mornings Girl

My hubby and I love spending Saturday mornings at one of the local coffee shops sipping on lattes and listening to our favorite tunes. We both get so much done when we go. The atmosphere makes me so productive for some reason. We get to splurge on coffee shop mornings maybe twice a month so when we do get to go it's pretty special. So special that I put on my faux leather pants no doubt! What?!? For some reason I have this way of hoarding my "good" clothes and keeping them for only nights that we go out on dates. Since extravagant date nights are such a rare treat now that I am a stay at home mom and we're on one income, I'm going to have to start wearing the special outfits even when we just go grab coffee. I'm also very curious and slightly obsessed with the capsule wardrobe idea going around. I may try to commit to one. Or maybe not. What I like about a minimal wardrobe is that everything hanging in your closet is #1) Something you LOVE and #2) Something that fits exceptionally well. Makes getting ready every morning so much easier! I'll let you know if I take the plunge and eliminate half my wardrobe. Eeek!

An oversized cozy sweater that I found in the men's section at the thrift store went perfectly with my new boots, that I must add, were given to me by my sweet, sweet mom! On her birthday no less! I am one spoiled daughter I can tell you that. I spoil my little guy too so I get it. I get it. I topped this outfit off with a soft gray wool hat from Eddie Bauer. I got this hat a few years ago as a Christmas present and I haven't really been able to style it very well. Today, everything just fell in place. No tripods to set up today! My very kind and patient hubby took these photos for me. Aww. Thanks darlin.

Comfort Girl

You may be asking yourself...does this girl wear anything other than her L.L. Bean boots? Not lately. They are just too darn comfy and too darn easy to throw on when I'm heading out the door. Plus I just got through watching Olive Kitteridge on HBO since I had just finished reading the book and Olive wears her Bean boots a couple of times in the movie. Perfect setting since it is filmed in Maine. So that just gave me the extra fuel I needed to wear them again...and again... But I promise to spice it up soon around here! No worries. If you haven't read or watched Olive Kitteridge I would recommend it. Read it first, of course, for the true experience. Although HBO does very well with the small screen adaptation. Francis McDormand is fantastic. Her interview with Katie Couric is interesting too. She is very frank and honest with aging and how women get all tripped up in the anxiety of it all. Something that I don't want to admit that I am doing and will do more of...age. In the meantime my Maine hunting boots will be a tribute to Olive today. Cheers Ollie.

At the Lake Girl

About a week ago I was more than blessed to be able to stay at my friend's lake house for a few days. It was so peaceful and so quiet. I loved sitting on her back deck, sipping my morning coffee and watching the lake. It was the ultimate in relaxation. How did this come about you say? Well, I had planned to be on a beach trip with a friend but that fell through. So instead of canceling all of my out of town childcare I embraced the free time and went by myself to the lake. What?! I know. I thought I could enjoy the solitude and gather myself and my thoughts before the holiday season stress sets in. I've not been able to have several days in a row to myself in, well, I can't remember the last time. I am a purebred introvert and love my alone time. Don't get me wrong, I love my son and my husband and my whole family for that matter. My son was super excited to get to spend some extra days with his dad. I do crave friendships and I truly enjoy being around the people I love. But once in a blue moon I enjoy not having to answer anyone's questions, only worry about fixing my meal and go to bed and get up whenever my heart desires. It's a nice break from reality. I want to go back to the lake in the summer with the fam. My son would love playing in the water. I want to go back with the hubs too and snuggle up on the sofa, drink coffee and read books. Maybe it would be snowing. Yeah. Wake up! Back to reality!

eShakti Girl {Product Review}

I definitely jumped out of my seat with excitement when eShakti contacted me and asked if I would like a custom made clothing item from them. YES PLEASE! I've seen other bloggers enjoy their Eshakti pieces and I am glad I got invited to eat at that lunch table! Ha! Let me tell you; choosing what I wanted was the hardest. They have so many choices! Dresses, skirts, tops...I was so excited! After much deliberation I decided against a dress and went with these pants so I could use them throughout the fall with ease. There were only two options for pants so I kind of felt like I was unearthing a treasure. I was not disappointed with my choice! 

What makes eShakti so special is you give them your measurements when you order so your garment is CUSTOM MADE for your body! I liked the fit of my pants. They are meant to be slouchy so I was ok with the roomy fit. Although I do believe they could be a bit slimmer in the thigh and I would be more comfortable with that. I chose my hip shape as "curvy" which I am but I think that caused it to have too much room in the hips. I love the pattern and the high waist. The length is perfect to wear with heels. If I wear them with flats they are just a tad too long. If you choose to order these and want to wear with flats, I would take your measurement and subtract an inch or two. 

I am in love with the pattern! I chose to pair it with white right now because the weather was gorgeous and still slightly warm and I could get away with this sheer top. I have a navy sweater that is just waiting to be paired with these bad boys for the winter! Isn't the pattern gorgeous?

They are super comfy and the fabric is sturdy. It isn't flimsy and see through. I got lots of compliments on these! The pockets are roomy and usable. You can opt to have no pockets but I love them. The drawstring is long and doesn't slip through the openings. I can't really find a negative about the construction or fabric! If you are looking for a more closer fitting trouser pants then choose slim or average for your hip shape.

Overall I am ecstatic about my eShakti pants! They are such a welcomed breath of fresh air to my wardrobe! I love that I can pair them with darker colors for the winter. Comfy navy sweater....brown boots...chunky scarf! Yes! Oh and since we're talking about the future, next summer they are getting a crop top paired with them for sure.

Happy Autumn Girl

Fully embracing autumn at this point. In case you can't tell from these photos. My family and I went to a pumpkin patch over the weekend and even though it was raining we still managed to have a wonderful time. It was a much needed break from the daily grind and a way to really appreciate the season before it passes us by! Warning: Fall Photo Overload!
