All Dressed Up Girl

Top & Dress: Modcloth, Sandals & Belt: Thrifted

I was at the grocery store today and noticed the lady behind me looked just like the old mom from the original Psycho movie. The gray hair pulled back in the bun, the long dress, the glasses. All I could hear is Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates saying, "Mother!". I think maybe if you walk out of the house and you ask someone, "First impression, who do I look like?" and it ends up being someone that plays a dead person then, well, you are more adventourous then me. Although something tells me that might not have been what this little lady was going for. Bless it.
On another note, this day I felt like dressing up and getting a little frilly. All in the name of enjoying the last few days of summer.

Hurry Up Girl

Top: dept store (old), Skirt: Thrifted, Sandals: Kohl's

I guess I realized that if I want to wear any last remnants of summer outfits I better hurry up and do it now! So I chose something more springy to wear today so I could feel like I am making some headway.

Post Grease Girl

Jacket, Skirt: Thrifted, Top: Gift, Wedges: Modcloth

This is what happens after I watch Grease. I get all retro up in here.
Man, I love that movie. Even though Grease 2 has it's moments, and I adore Michelle Pfieffer, it will never ever stand equal to the original. Tell 'em Rizzo.

Summer Sweater Girl

Sweater, Tank, Pants: Thrifted, Sandals: Target, Necklace: ?

This is a summer sweater, not a fall sweater. There was a bit of a chill in the air early in the morning but it's not fall ya'll. It was just a cold front. Nope. Not fall.  I refuse to admit it and will fight it tooth and nail until the leaves actually turn. I'm just not ready. Although I am excited that it will be football season soon.Go Panthers! I don't need a reason to eat a bowl of chili on a Sunday afternoon but it is nice to have a reason to eat cupcakes decorated like little tiny footballs.

Tie Dyed Girl

Dress: NY&Co (was all white), Sandals: Target

This is my first attempt at tie dye! It wasn't really the success I was hoping it would be, but I did pick a dress that had a TON of material to it which was really my downfall. There is a built in liner underneath so there are two skirts and then the fact that it is floor length just added to the struggle. I did the roll/stripe method. If you can even tell. I rolled the garment horizontally and then added string (rubber bands couldn't hold the heavy amount of fabric) every few inches or so. I squirted the dye on and around the parts that I tied with string.

The first attempt didn't really get the bottom of the dress as much as I wanted. I had rolled it up from the bottom to the top. The second time I dyed it I rolled it from the top towards the bottom. Much better! It still isn't exactly what I had in mind, but it will do!

I did end up with some really cool patterns. A bit of a Rorschach test maybe? A butterfly...a
crime scene...a far away solar system...

This was the dress I wore when we I took our engagement photos on the beach. So it was nice to be able to repurpose it into something "new" to me. It did feel a bit wedding when it was all white but now I can explore a bit more of a hippie vibe when I feel like it.

Making Things Happen Girl

Top: NY&Co, Pants: Kmart, Sandals: Chadwicks, Necklace: Avon

I went out and about on a scouting adventure to decorate our office/craft room. I want to do a cabin type feel. Warm colors and a bit of a black bear or a moose shape here and there. Nothing too matchy matchy. I'm excited about it. I have an organizational project that is going to happen on one of the walls where we will have a chalkboard, cork board, magnetic board and boxes to place bills, flyers, etc. All that junk that ends up in the kitchen or end tables in the living room. Excitement abounds.

So this day was a successful shopping trip for sure! I found the magnetic board, key organizer and a nice cozy rug where I am getting lots of  paint color ideas.

Several Shades of Denim

Top: Thrifted, Belt: Thrifted, Skirt: Kohl's (similar), Shoes: Target

The shirt, belt and shoes are all a different shade of denim but I didn't quite realize that until I was outside. Goes to show you how terrible my lighting is in my bedroom! So I just had to go with it at that point. I do love this skirt from Kohl's. I need to take it up in the waist just a tad. I have lost almost 15 pounds in the last 6 months - which is not a complete makeover or anything - but I've been taking it slow. I've just been very selective on how much I eat. I've basically been doing the weight watchers method when you really come down to it. I just know that program so well and I know what I can and can't eat. I can almost do it in my head. I still have all the materials and the little calculator that is a major help at the grocery store. If I was living in the 21st century and had a smartphone I could just do it on my phone. But I am still holding back on being that plugged in. Anyway, hopefully by the end of the year I will have lost the other 15 and I will be at my goal. I am pleased with the results so far. I haven't had to alter my schedule or have a big lifestyle change to lose the 15. That makes me the most happy. Easy breezy.

Taco Girl

Dress: ? old... Sandals: Target, Sunnies: Dollar General

The hubs wanted to take me to a new taco place in town. I did not argue. I never argue about going to eat food.
We passed by this lovely blue door on the way there and it matched my dress perfectly. Squeeeal - turn around! It's not every day I have another person available to take some photos and this door was just the perfect spot! (Thank you sweetie)
He even ran across the road, risked his life in traffic to get the perfect shot. Not much more I could ask for... Except that his choice of restaurant was even better. White Duck Tacos!

:) the best photographer ever :)

Yeah - couldn't get that before picture. I was just way to excited to eat!! But we did get one Jerk Chicken, one BBQ Carnitas (the hubs fave), one Bangkok Shrimp (my fave) and a Thai Peanut Chicken. They were all so delicious. I mean, you really can't go wrong. I love that they are on corn tortillas and not flour. It just gives it such a nice finish. I want to try the Spicy Buffalo next. Yum. And that price! $3.45 each! Yes!!
