Farewell to Downton Girl

This outfit seems to have a little British flair. Maybe it's the hair, maybe it's the lace, maybe it's the oxfords. I will leave it as a little nod to Downton Abbey. A farewell to the soggy British soap opera that has brought new life to good ole PBS. I will miss the Dowager Countess. Everyone else...I think it is time to bid adieu.

Outfit details:
Blazer, Jeans & Beret: Thrifted
Lace Top: Eddie Bauer
Oxfords: Bass

Other ways I've worn berets! I'm a poet!

Fall Colors in Winter Girl

On one of our warmer days I got to finally wear this olive green silky shirt dress that I got as a Christmas gift. Yes, it was on my amazon wish list and my hubby did exactly what he should've done and got it for me!

I went with a more autumnal color palette because it just felt right! Here it is a few days before Valentine's day and I look like I'm heading to Thanksgiving dinner!

I love a good shirt dress. It is the perfect dress for my body shape. It balances out my smaller top half to my larger bottom half. Pear shape! Plus this fabric is very forgiving and doesn't cling!

Outfit details:
Dress: Target (similar)
Cardigan: Eddie Bauer (few years old)
Boots: gift from my mom!

Top It Off Girl

Sweater: Thrifted (similar), Jeans: Thrifted Lee (similar), Boots: Bongo, Hat: Eddie Bauer (similar)

An oversized cozy sweater that I found in the men's section at the thrift store went perfectly with my new boots, that I must add, were given to me by my sweet, sweet mom! On her birthday no less! I am one spoiled daughter I can tell you that. I spoil my little guy too so I get it. I get it. I topped this outfit off with a soft gray wool hat from Eddie Bauer. I got this hat a few years ago as a Christmas present and I haven't really been able to style it very well. Today, everything just fell in place. No tripods to set up today! My very kind and patient hubby took these photos for me. Aww. Thanks darlin.

DIY Faux Boot Sock

First off, this is not an original DIY thought up by yours truly. I know you've all seen the DIY sweater socks for wearing with your boots out there on Pinterest. I have too and I have several projects pinned! Anytime I think about giving a sweater to the thrift store I make sure I don't want the sleeves first! Well, this happened to be a similar kind of project. Real boot socks are expensive. Sweater boot socks are sometimes too bulky.  Sometimes even when I do actually buy boot socks they're still not long enough to actually stick out of the top of my boots! My husband was ready to toss his old Eddie Bauer camp socks when one got a hole in the heel. He's had them forever so they had really served their purpose as socks. I really loved the colors and thought the idea of using a camp sock style to an outfit would be cute. I decided to keep the top part of the socks to wear with boots - long, medium or ankle boots - it doesn't matter! Plus - this takes like one minute. A one minute craft. Me like.

Sad little hole:

Grab a pair of scissors

  Trim above the heel

Toss the bottom halves and keep the top halves.

Just slip them on and pull them up to where your boot ends. The wider you leave the sock that you've cut up, the more sock will show at the top of your boot. Of course you can always pull them down and show just a little sliver. I wanted a lot to show. I went for a "glamping" style!

Here's how they look!

Here We Go Again Girl

Sweater: Thrifted, Jeans: Thrifted men's Levi's, Top: Eddie Bauer, Wedges: Steve Madden, Sunglasses: Dollar Store

Here we go again with these dastardly boyfriend jeans. I can't say I hate them here in this outfit. So...the secret for me and my pear shape means I need heels when wearing boyfriend jeans. Alright, allllright. Got it.

Paisley Girl

Skirt and Tank: Eddie Bauer, Sweater: Thrifted

Today is my Friday! Brian and I are taking tomorrow off so we can relax, chill and have no resposibilities. Ok, so we will still have to be responsible but we're going to pretend like we're not. So what was the biggest decision to make for our Friday off? Where to eat lunch, of course. What kind of food do we want to eat? Mexican? Indian? Cracker Barrel breakfast mid-day? Oh....the choices.

Autumn Breeze Girl

Outfit: Eddie Bauer, Lace ups & Necklace: Modcloth

A nice crisp autumn breeze accompanied us at the Farmer's Market while we looked at all the pumpkins and the funky gourds. Gourds are like the autumn ugly duckling. They are so weird and strange that they end up being beautiful. I liked all the little painted pumpkins too. My son loved the little one that had the witch face on it. You can see it in the far right of the photo above.
Well, life lately is hectic. I haven't been able to blog quite as much as I used to because I'm trying to learn how to become a mom to a kindergartner. It's been a change. I've been slowly getting used to it and I think we are in a good rhythm now. Getting little man up before the sun, getting teeth brushed, packing a snack...all these things I've never had to do before. And the fact that he is growing up. I feel like I need to hold onto each little minute but it is all going by so fast.
