Backup Plan

Sometimes the best outfits are the ones that aren't planned. The backup plan to the outfit that lies in a heap on the closet floor. The reject doesn't get to see the light of day. Time to call in the second string! I know I can turn to this navy and white polka dot skirt anytime, anywhere. And the green silk sleeve caught my eye when I was grabbing the skirt - perfect! Paired it with some pearls and a matching silky navy bow. My hair ended up in a side bun since much drama was had over the reject outfit and some precious morning minutes were lost.

Saturday Happenings

Top: Cato, Skirt: Vintage, Wedges: Steve Madden, Brooches: Vintage

Saturdays give me the chance to twist Brian's arm into taking some pictures for me! Which he is always more than happy to do :) The pictures are always better when you don't have to run back and forth between the camera and posing for the shot. Plus he always does such a good job!
We stopped by Lake Eden to grab some nice photos by the lake and stumbled upon this cute little overflow waterfall. After this we were off to the grocery store and hardware store. We came home with loads and loads of groceries only to find that our refrigerator was broken! We frantically got things into coolers and Brian worked on getting us a fridge he had in the basement of his condo that he is renting. Thank the Lord!

Photos by Brian - thanks sweets :)

Tennies

Shirt: thrifted, Skirt: NY&CO, Tennis shoes: thrifted, Earrings: vintage

I woke up on Friday and wanted to wear my tennies. Friday is pretty casual at my office but jeans were just not an option in this heat. This shirt has been with me for years and it is so comfy. I love the stripes and the boat neck.

On a more personal note I took a major plunge last week and signed up for Weight Watchers. I attended my first meeting on Friday and I felt so empowered. I debated whether to mention it here or not because it is slightly embarrassing (why is that???) to know you are a little too fluffy. Absolutely no one or no thing is pushing me to do this other than just not feeling comfortable in my own skin. Plus I have tons of clothes I can't fit into that I was able to fit into last summer and the summer before. Seeing your favorite skirt but not being able to button it up is a major bummer. But I felt that if I made it public, I would have a second audience to be accountable to, ya know? Oh well - here goes nothing!

Summer

How do you know summer is here? Here are a few clues:

 Seeing your dog do this
 planting these...
painting pretty pastel colors on my nails
enjoying these in bloom that previous owners planted
enjoying a good bbq with pork tenderloin, mushrooms and onions (and a few dogs!)
 popping open one of these
bringing the beautiful outside world in

HAVE A HAPPY SUMMER EVERYONE!!!!!!!!

Color blocking is lots of fun. I gave it a whirl here, but hope to do a lot more of it. Here is one outfit from Kansas Couture that I want to attempt very soon. Happy color blocking ya'll!

Pink

Dress: a little hippie shop in the mall, Sandals: Target, Earrings: local & handmade, Tank: old!

I enjoyed spending time with my family after a fun birthday party for my cousins little boy with lots of pizza and cake! The weather was perfect and it was very relaxing in the shade. We stopped at this little spot on the way back home. It used to be up and going, then it was shut down and now it seems to be back up and going again as a little venue for community events. etc. I'm glad because it's like a tiny little western town if you squint really hard. :)

Fleur

Top: Kmart, Capri's and Orange Tank: NY&CO, Sandals: Kmart, Belt: NY&CO

Taking time to take it easy with my new little friend. Isn't she a cute puppy? She could have cared less about what I was doing other than if I was going to open the door or not! Brian and I stopped by a friends house after we cooled off after work at a local brewery. On an outfit note - I felt hesitant with wearing jean capri's because you just don't see them much anymore....but they worked for this outfit so I went with it. I would much rather have some boyfriend cut capri's now.... But I do love love love the flower cut out detail in the top. It had me at "purple-flower-cut-out"
