Collecting Cozy Recipes

Right now is the perfect time for chili, soup and hearty meals. But I don't want to bust the buttons on my flannel so I found a few recipes from two of my most favorite internet chefs.

LaaLoosh has mouthwatering recipes that look really easy to make. I mean - I've always wondered what to do with those little acorn squash! Plus, she has all the nutrition information for each recipe and even the weight watcher points. YES!! (I've linked all photos and recipes back to the websites)

Don't those look delish?!

Skinnytaste is another website that I drool over constantly. She includes all nutritional information AND weight watcher points as well. I have made her Buffalo Turkey Burgers (last night in fact) and they are so so so good.

Look at this beauty: Roasted Pumpkin Sage Soup!

Candy Corn Nails

This is "hands down" my most favorite nail art to date. I love it! My five year old saw it and said "Candy Corn!" So I knew I was successful :)

Tis the Season
I have been dreaming about a little moto jacket in a soft brown color. I think #1 is the one I can actually have while I can only dream about #4.

Fashion Ramblings

So when I saw Gunnar on Project Runway with his flannel scarf I decided I needed one too. I haven't done too much digging around the old internets but I think this could be one of those things you could easily do a DIY on. But - with my mood of "easy is better" - I will probably succumb to an ebay purchase. Plus I don't want it to look homemade. I want it to be a lighter flannel fabric. RAMBLING. Anyway, here's Gunnar in all his glory:

Isn't that scarf awesome? Answer: yes, it is One Girl.

To soothe the savage beast, I created a little wish list. I got distracted by fringe boots so I threw those in there too.

Wish List: Stripes

Stripes

What's more fun than polka dots? Nothing.
But stripes come a close second.

Wish List

I realize I'm a bit too much of a pear shape to pull off polka dots on my lower half in pants form but that doesn't stop me from drooling over them.

Around the House: Fresh

I surrounded myself with fresh flowers this weekend. There is something about passing by a rose and getting a delicate whiff of it's beautiful smell.

I snipped off a few tiny blooms of the hydrangea. I know I will have more soon!

Do you Ulta Beauty?

Just in case you shop at Ulta Beauty (or are addicted to health and beauty items like me) I wanted to share with you some kickbutt deals that are going on right now. If you want it, click the link below the pic and give yourself a hug!

This kit is only 20 bucks!! I've never tried bareMinerals but at this price it would be cheaper than a movie and popcorn.

I used Dermologica when I was an Esthetician and it is amazing. To this day I wish I would've stocked up on crazy amounts of samples before I left. Anyhoo, you can get this stuff free with a purchase. It retails for $50. Seriously. You could have a glass of wine in celebration of this steal.
I own and use the sexyhair root pump when I want my hair to be...well..sexhay. It works. Like magic.

deals end 6/23/12

Lake & Bake

I'm at the lake today guys. Soaking up some nectar (sun). I don't plan on diving in with my butt up in the air like this guy, but I do plan on some heavy relaxation.

I'll see ya soon!

Have a great holiday weekend :)

Make Style Work

While planning the family beach trip and an escape wedding to New Orleans, I've been thinking about an easy way to carry my things with me while we sight see. I remember the mini backpacks from the mid-90s. I had one. Loved it. Then hated it. Like with a passion, hated it. Cringed at the sight of it. But now in 2012, they are growing on me. I see that they are starting to come back...slowly.. Ok. I don't want to carry one every day but I would like it as an option when I'm on the go all day long or doing some mommy things with the kiddo. I do miss the days of being hands free! Here are a few options in case you want to try too:

80s blast

"For a decade and a half, she ruled the charts: 170 million albums sold, including seven back-to-back multi-platinum ones."

In 2009, the Guinness World Records cited her as the most-awarded female act of all time.

I had this post planned before today. When I woke up and heard the news it was a bit surreal.

We will miss you Whitney.

Pretty...Shiney...Ooooo

Silly for Sequins

Now let's don't wear all of this together at one time (unless all your friends have had five martinis already and everyone thinks they can dance like Lady Gaga) and burn someone's eyeballs out. Instead, just choose one for a special night OR, even better, choose one for daytime and tone it down with denim. I have a serious addiction to sequins you guys. Even wore them to a Christmas party last year but didn't get any good pictures. The photobooth at the party...well...let's just say he wasn't the best photographer. But the sequins took the whole event up several notches!
Here is where I wore sequins in the daytime. Here is Jessica @ What I Wore wearing sequins (far better than I did) and it gave me the guts to try it in the first place.

Let me know if you wear sequins or love them as much as I do! I would love to see your spin on them!

It's the Most Scariest Tiiiime of the Year

Dare I say it aloud, so I will just whisper it....bathing suit season! Gasp! Blech. Pow! Bam! $&%(#*&!

There, after all the swearing, I do have to come to grips with the fact at some point in time this year, I will have to frighten the living daylights out of some people and wear a bathing suit. Long gone are the days that I don a bikini (I hear you clapping) so I look for cute one pieces/tankinis these days. Here are some I found at Shabby Apple: (Right now 20% off!!!)

I adore this polka dot number - a classic navy that has a lot of nautical inspiration! I could see pairing this with a nice red lip for an afternoon by the pool.
"Notte Stellata" Regular Price: $78.00, $62.40 with discount

Va-va-Voom! Who said a one piece was boring? Oh, I'm sorry, are you on a movie set?
"Sutherland Point" Regular Price: $74.00, $59.20 with discount

A cute tankini with lots of frills and fun! Girlie!
"Isola" Regular Price: $82.00, $65.60 with discount (mix & match bottoms)

A subdued color and a sweet deal that can would go great with a big flower in your hair!
"Daydream Island Bikini", Regular Price: $68.00 ,$54.40 with discount (mix & match!)

And finally, I adore the punch of drama with this metallic suit. A big black hat and you are set! Yes...dahling...
"Pietra", Regular price: $88.00, $70.40 with discount
