Life Lately {Punk Hair}
I know I am so far behind the times it's ridiculous but sometimes things that have been around for a while that I didn't really pay any attention to in the beginning suddenly and quickly strike me as freaking awesome.
This time it's the side shaved hairstyle or an "Undercut".
I caught a glimpse of Demi Lovato lately and I've been obsessed with her look. "Where have you been?!" you are screaming to me right now.
I know, I know. I'm not saying I haven't SEEN an undercut on many a fine lady but I've just never looked twice at it ya know? Maybe it's because I loved Mad Max Fury Road so much...Charlize shaved her head for that one.

But really it was Demi that caught my eye. Beautiful yet edgy, right?

Now I know she has been sporting this look forever and recently it looks like she is growing out her side shave. Oh well! I TOLD you I am 5 years behind the mark on everything!
Since the only thing I know to do with an obsession is to spend insurmountable time on the internet digging up more eye candy to ogle at, I thought what the heck. I'm so deep at this point. I should do a round up of some other women - some famous, some not - that have been rocking this style. Just to soothe the ole' nerves.
Here's what I can do NOW to curb the desire to take my husband's trimmers to my noggin.
Since I don't drink and can't do three shots of tequila to get up the nerve to shave my head, a faux shave by using braids or some other little tricky trick can work.

I'm the first to admit I'm not the best at braids. Here are a few "tuck it" methods. I've had moderate success with the tuck it method if I do say so myself.
Alright! I need to get started on this! I'll be sure to take pics of whatever I come up with. Hopefully a winner.

Most Chic Girl

I love how a simple jumpsuit is instantly chic and stylish. As usual, I was in a rush to get out the door and go to my stepson's high school graduation and I had just gotten out of the shower with wet hair and no time for a fussy outfit. No time for fussy hair either so I went with Heidi braids. We stopped by one of the beautiful churches in downtown Asheville for some photos. I got some great pics of the hubby too so he could update his Linked In & work profiles with some professional shots. They turned out great. The architecture of this old church is just, well, grand. I need to spend more time downtown just enjoying the architecture. I took an art class in college that focused a lot on Asheville architecture and I've never forgotten about the things I've learned. I get excited to learn the stories behind the buildings themselves. I need to rekindle that excitement!
And if you're like me, when you do get excited, you do the running man.

Back in Braids Girl

I am still obsessed with braids. I want to take about 4 inches off of my hair but I would miss the braiding I think. I have learned via you tube how to cut my own hair and I came very very close last week to chopping it off. Then I wore these braids and now I'm kind of thinking of just trimming it. Whatever I decide it needs something. I am finding more and more grays every day too. Ugh. I'm not devasated. Just annoyed. I do a non permanent dye every now and then. Mainly because I didn't like the way I got my hair highlighted the last time I got it done. But it helps with the grays too. It just washes out after about a month. I'm thinking if I went back to highlights then the gray can blend in with the blonde. Oh decisions decision! Ha!

Patience Tested Girl

I failed the patience test. My mom, my niece and my son and I were all at an indoor play-land thingie here in town on Monday. We found some seats, put our stuff down, played, got some coffee and just did our thing. I got up to go speak to the owner who my mom knew and while I was speaking to him I noticed two ladies had sat down in our chairs. I came back over and saw my pocketbook in the floor and my coffee and Riley's juice box still on the end table in between the two chairs. I said "wow, you moved my stuff!" They didn't say anything at first but I said "you know we were sitting here". I really was just in disbelief at how nonchalant they were at how rude it was that they stole our chairs. They proceeded to argue about how I wasn't sitting in it and that other people need to sit down. I tried to "reason" with them. They told me to go away, to get out of there. I'm like WHAT? I.was.sitting.there. My pocketbook was in the chair that your butt is in right now. I just got up no more than 30 seconds ago.
Oh well. Needless to say it got to me and it has gotten to me since it happened (Monday). I just don't understand. And I don't understand how it ended up my fault either that I deserved to have my things moved and my chair stolen. Is this 2nd grade or are we adults that ask permission before we take over? Evidently it is a free for all and we are all in it for ourselves. Disappointing! We left about 15 minutes after all that went down. I've thought about those ladies a lot since it happened. What I wished I would've said...the awesome insults I have mentally lined up...but I'm glad I got away from them and out of there before I said any of them. I cannot (and do not want to) become what they are.

Partially successful at a side braid today. Some of the elements that makes it successful are bangs and beach waves. That way it looks purposefully messy.
