The hubs and I finally took a honeymoon...two years later! Time just got away from us I guess! Setting the time aside and actually pulling the money together took a little while. Maybe we were trying to dream too big on where we would actually go. We finally just looked around and just embraced what was close to home. We decided on a little cabin in Gatlinburg Tennesee complete with fireplace, hot tub, jacuzzi and mountain views. While we were driving to our cabin we saw a pull off for Clingmans Dome. It's this overlook on the side of the mountain in Great Smokies National Park. We had not planned to pull off there, hence the lack of hiking boots on my feet! We will go back again and actually walk up to the dome. It is about a 30 minute hike up and then another 30 down. Seeing this place and going in the visitor's center really got us charged up to plan lots of day trip hikes and fun times for us and the family.

Enjoy Spring!

I am enjoying some much needed down time with the hubs....I hope you have a wonderful weekend and are enjoying spring as much as I am. And why are foxes so darn adorable?

Really Loving...Leather Track Pants

My obession for the moment is Leather Track Pants! I know some people can't stand them but for some reason I just love these babies! Here is Rihanna looking fantastic in hers:

And of course if I had the bank roll that Rihanna did then I could choose one of these:

But alas I do not...so I found some alternatives that look pretty fantastic. I think when they are styled correctly these leather track pants can really look chic.

Product Review {Kiss Nail Artist}

Kiss Nail Artist Paint and Stencil Kit was the second item I got in my badge winner package from Kiss Nails. On my first go I used the Impress-On manicure from Broadway Nails. I liked it but always feel like I want to pick off anything that is glued down to my nail. That's just me. And I'm weird. I did think the Impress-On's would be great for an event or a night out. No drying time was awesome.

This time, I am going to use this paint and stencil kit. This is exciting! I like this idea. Since my last nail post was pretty wild, I am going with a more simple nail this time.

Lots of designs to choose from plus 3 colors of polish with super long skinny brush tips.

It was a tough choice but I wanted to keep it simple. I decided to just add just one design and just to my ring finger.

I did already have a light pink polish on all of my nails. I decided to go with white polish for the design to keep it light for spring.

I was really messy on this step. Maybe with practice I can get better! Ha!

Voila!

I don't think the stencil was salvagable for the next time. But that might have been because I was so messy with the polish application. I don't know. There are a lot more to chose from so it's probably best so I can get to all of the other designs!

Here is what the polish brush looks like. You do need to make sure not a whole lot of polish is on the end of the brush or it will over spill your stencil. 

Of course I had to take it to the next level. I added a little bit of the silver to the wings and some of the black to the little antenna. 

 

Cute! I will definitely be trying the other stencils! I love this. I cannot free hand these kinds of things or come up with new ideas! Ha! The stencil does all the work for you. You can always use a toothpick for other polishes if you don't want to be bound to just the 3 polishes that are included. 

Dinner and a Show Girl

The hubs and I had a chance to go to The Cove (Billy Graham's Training Center) to have dinner and see Brandon Heath in concert. The food was good, not out of this world, but the concert was perfect. Very intimate, very sweet. He was talking about his grandad and how he was a good man and he teared up, made ME tear up because that is the same way I feel about my grandfather. Paw is what we all called him and he was a big ole sweetheart. He called his wife, my granny, Goldilocks. Bless it. He loved to fish and he would take us kids down to the lake a lot. I miss that lake and I miss him. I do have lots and lots of good memories though. Brandon's video is at the end of this post if you want to get all teared up about your own grandad!

Style Challenge: Going to Disney

I was contacted recently by Kendra Thorton, travel advocate, to participate in a Fashion Challenge that focuses on looking stylish while still being able to travel comfortably. Anytime I hear challenge and fashion together? I'm in of course! 

For this challenge, she asked us to come up with ideas on what to wear on her next visit to The Animal Kingdom at Disney that she planned (with the help of reviews and advice from Gogobot.com) with her family and then she would pick her favorite. I have never been to Disneyworld but I would love to go one day! Preferably while my son is still young. So with this in mind, I chose exactly what I would like to wear and what I would feel comfortable in while still looking pulled together!

Here's what I would wear for the basic "tons-of-walking" kind of day:

She also mentioned photo ops for her and her family. Blue is such an easy color for the whole family to wear! It always looks crisp and clean when paired with white too. I chose flats again too because hey, let's face it, your feet are going to be tired. Don't make it hard on yourself!

And of course those few and far between moments when it's just you and your sweetheart! This is where you can pull out the heels!

DIY Faux Boot Sock

First off, this is not an original DIY thought up by yours truly. I know you've all seen the DIY sweater socks for wearing with your boots out there on Pinterest. I have too and I have several projects pinned! Anytime I think about giving a sweater to the thrift store I make sure I don't want the sleeves first! Well, this happened to be a similar kind of project. Real boot socks are expensive. Sweater boot socks are sometimes too bulky.  Sometimes even when I do actually buy boot socks they're still not long enough to actually stick out of the top of my boots! My husband was ready to toss his old Eddie Bauer camp socks when one got a hole in the heel. He's had them forever so they had really served their purpose as socks. I really loved the colors and thought the idea of using a camp sock style to an outfit would be cute. I decided to keep the top part of the socks to wear with boots - long, medium or ankle boots - it doesn't matter! Plus - this takes like one minute. A one minute craft. Me like.

Grab a pair of scissors

  Trim above the heel

Toss the bottom halves and keep the top halves. 

Just slip them on and pull them up to where your boot ends. The wider you leave the sock that you've cut up, the more sock will show at the top of your boot. Of course you can always pull them down and show just a little sliver. I wanted a lot to show. I went for a "glamping" style!
