It's Finally Sweater Weather Girl

Well whaddayaknow it was finally chilly enough to wear a sweater today! I have had my eye on this sweater at Target for a while and my hubby saw it on my wish list and got it for me for Christmas. Win! Hey! Wish lists are awesome at getting what you want! 

However, I don't know if I would recommend it because it is shedding like crazy! Lots of white hairs everywhere! I never got to really see it in person. I had only ran across it online. I'm thinking I will try to wash it to see if it helps? We'll see. I have a feeling this may be one of those sweaters that pills really easily and leaves all those little yarn balls all over. Ahhh!!! That is really the only con. The pros are that it is very warm and I love the design. It is also nice and long so you can wear it with leggings.

Here's another present that I'm super excited about! A fitbit Surge! I'm so excited to start using it! I'm always having to use my phone to guesstimate how many calories I've burned during workouts or how far I have walked - which doesn't help at all when it's the treadmill. Plus I'm really curious about the sleep tracking too. Yay! Do you have one? Do you love it or did the new wear off?

Maybe I've got spring fever or something because I dipped into my tank top drawer and saw this bright top and just had to wear it. I added some orange beads and a long tunic underneath so as to not be scandalous in my leggings.

Joggers Girl...finally

Now that they are old news I finally got my hands on some Joggers! Or what I like to call them: street legal pajamas. Since my clothes budget is $0 - $50 A YEAR (I kid...kinda) I don't get a round to snatching up a trend as soon as I see it. But here's the thing. I got these on MAJOR sale because the newness of the dressed up jogging pant had worn off. I really don't care if they are out of style by the time I get good wear out of them. They are so dang comfortable I just can't stop wearing them.

The hubs and I finally took a honeymoon...two years later! Time just got away from us I guess! Setting the time aside and actually pulling the money together took a little while. Maybe we were trying to dream too big on where we would actually go. We finally just looked around and just embraced what was close to home. We decided on a little cabin in Gatlinburg Tennesee complete with fireplace, hot tub, jacuzzi and mountain views. While we were driving to our cabin we saw a pull off for Clingmans Dome. It's this overlook on the side of the mountain in Great Smokies National Park. We had not planned to pull off there, hence the lack of hiking boots on my feet! We will go back again and actually walk up to the dome. It is about a 30 minute hike up and then another 30 down. Seeing this place and going in the visitor's center really got us charged up to plan lots of day trip hikes and fun times for us and the family.

New Hair Girl

I finally got around to taking the plunge into adding some highlights to my hair. I can't say I am completely happy. Although, I thought I was in the salon. Has that ever happened to you? You love it when they whirl you around in the chair and you look in the mirror. "It's great! I love it!" I say. Then I get home and I start second guessing it. I'm looking at it in the lighting in my bedroom and saying hmmm.... Well, that is what I'm doing. I feel they are a bit too light. I really wanted a honey caramel kind of look to them. Here's an extreeeeeeeme close up!

 Nothing horrible or out of the ordinary. Just not how I had it pictured in my head. But hey, that's hard to do. I didn't explain it well enough or she thought my reaction of I LOVE IT was an indicator of my happiness! LOL. I was happy....I think...Maybe...It's me - too finicky I guess! I have been cutting my own hair so it was good to have someone clean it up a bit. I have a goal to grow my layers out so she helped them lay a little bit better than what I had accomplished. I should have had some texturizing shears, really. But I'm going to grow it out so my hair cutting/layering episodes should soon just turn into a simple trim.

Confidence Girl

Sometimes my confidence is sky high. Sometimes not so much. I don't know if you feel the same but sometimes I have a hard time feeling completely comfortable around other women. I guess I've just been burned so many times or maybe it's just because I am so self conscience? I'm also a huge introvert so it takes an act of Congress for me to make the first move. That's why I generally gravitate towards women that are extroverts. They get the ball rolling and then I feel comfortable to jump in. 

I've been around someone who has judged me a couple of times, several times now, basically on just my appearance. It happened again last night and I have to remind myself that she just doesn't know me. Yes, I do like to get dressed up and look pulled together. But I don't do it to make other people uncomfortable. At the same time I don't feel like I am that high maintenance. I am pretty casual in my appearance overall. Much more casual than I used to be. There was a time that I would've never left the house without full makeup and hair done. I don't know...I guess I really should just approach her about it but I do not like confrontation and shouldn't I just let it go anyway? I do not want to argue I really don't. And I'm not even angry. I'm hurt and confused. It is making me self evaluate.

As women I think we should build each other up instead of tearing each other down. I don't want to show up in sweatpants and old tennies because I wear those kinds of things at home! I want to put on something different when I head out. I used to dress up all the time when I was going out to the local watering hole. I used to have more money to go out to eat, drink and see shows. Now, we have one income so we don't go out as often and I also got sober because I was/am an alcoholic. So when I do go out now, I wear something that I love and that I feel good in. Plus, I don't know about you but when I wear sweatpants I don't feel good. It's like I have less energy or something. I get a bounce in my step when I'm wearing something that I feel fabulous in. Should we change who we are to make others feel more comfortable when they are around us?

Old Friends Girl

I was so excited to be able to meet up with my dear friend since high school last Tuesday for lunch. I was literally jumping up and down when I saw her! It is so nice to catch up. Thanks Tracey!

I have been ready to wear this skirt with a long sweater and these wine colored tights for basically forever. Ok, maybe like 2 months. I was waiting on some ankle boots to complete the look and I got those checked off my list at Christmas. It finally all came together and lunch with a friend was the best time for it's debut!

Suspenders Girl

I was looking for a belt in my under-the-bed-mess-of-a-belt-box and rediscovered these suspenders. I picked them up at a thrift store or somewhere Lord knows where forever ago and never put them to good use. I thought, hey! I really do need suspenders with those men's jeans if I don't wear a belt. It worked out well! I felt silly at one point and started to think I had no idea what I was doing then I thought, nope, I like it! Go for it!

I incorporated my new chuck-chucks bracelet in with this outfit. It worked perfectly with the hipster vibe I was going for. I'm only missing a toboggan. And a beard.

Dahhhh Boots Girl

My new black ankle boots just came in the mail a couple of days ago and I couldn't wait to wear them. I have been wanting a pair of black ankle boots since at some point last year and wish listed a bunch of different styles. I finally settled on this pair from Seychelles. I found them on 6pm.com for a great price. They really fit the cool, laid back but edgy style I was going for.

Since I have given up on heels, ok maybe not all together given up, but I despise to wear them most days, these ankle boots play the part of being comfortable but still stylish. The pointy toe is just a dream. 

I did have to stick an empty wine bottle down in both of them to open up the ankle opening a bit. (Keep empty wine bottles to stick into your boots when they are in the closet. Helps hold their shape. Pool noodles cut down to size work well too I have heard.) Anyway, they were a little flat from being in the box and they were rubbing on my legs and ankles. It worked perfectly and now they are more rounded at the top. Much more comfy on the ankles.
