Why do I do this fashion blogging thing?

I love fashion and I have always loved it. I enjoy putting together outfits and seeing what I come up with. I don't get "dressed up" every day and you've seen me in jeans and t shirts a few times here on the blog but I do it a lot more than I probably feature. My main reason behind fashion blogging is that is a fun hobby that keeps me from getting bored with the monotonous routine of getting ready for work M-F. I don't have a creative job whatsoever (just a paper pusher) so I use clothes as an artistic outlet. Like taking a canvas and choosing your color palette and deciding what shapes you want to paint that day. It keeps me from getting bored and gives me a way to express myself. Clothes and shoes are not my main concern, just something to keep it fun while I am at work and spending time with family, friends and people that I love.

Dodging acorns you say? While I was taking these photos acorns were falling all around. I just knew that I was going to get pelted in the head as soon as the camera clicked. But I didn't! It was kind of a really nice sound. Like autumn was official and was here to stay.

 

Sweater Girl

Heading to grab a couple of craft beers with a few buddies at a local brewery. Enjoying a great weekend and catching up with old friends. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy!

It's no secret I love watching Project Runway. Watching it right now actually. I can't get over how much fun Michael and Nina have when they start cackling over how horrid an outfit turned out. Michael with his eyebrows raised high says "Can you say Halloween costume?? Horrendous!! Muah muah ha haha ha" Nina is doubling over with laughter and the camera swings to the poor designer and sweat is just beading all over their forehead and they look as if they are one second away from passing out. I think MK might practice on his off days what his next insult will be. Which is why I am thoroughly addicted to this show. I know, I know. Tisk tisk.

So, on topic of this outfit, I was disappointed when I looked at the photos. I thought it looked better in real life but I must have just been fooling myself or I was really, really groggy when I put it on. I loved wearing it and felt great in it all day. But the pictures just didn't really thrill me. Meh. I will definitely be back with this skirt styling it in a more traditional way with a black sweater and heels. I think that is what it wants. Yes, little leopard skirt. I will listen to you.

Corn Maze Girl

I knew I needed to wear flats for the endless hours of hiking my way out of a corn maze and these boots did the job. Although, I probably could've gotten away with flip flops it got so hot. The scarf definitely became the sweat towel. Eww. Just kidding. Or am I?

Thanks bale of hay for being my tripod. Who said hey is just for horses anyway?

A Corn Maze Day

Fall is not complete without a day at the corn maze. A pirate themed corn maze at that.

Riley and I successfully completed the beginner maze and then proceeded to get completely lost in the intermediate. We waved at the entrance to the advanced maze while I steered him in another direction. It was a 2.6 mile course and I couldn't see us actually making it back out of there until nightfall.

What was the most fun was the pirate flag scavenger hunt. You'll see the flag card in Riley's hand in like every picture. He took this thing seriously. We had to find 6 out of 7 pirate flags with the one we didn't find being the answer that we had to show to the maze captain/guy/person. Here's Riley telling me where we need to go next:

We did find all of them (the last one being inside the treasure chest that was full of candy at the end) Here is the picture of success:

During and after, we rode the cow train, slid down slides and munched on caramel apples. A great day indeed. But please, don't ever expect me to rescue you from a corn maze. Ain't gonna happen.

This kid loves mazes. I mean loves them. He ran this maze about 10 times.

 The pit of corn kernels that I couldn't convince Riley to jump into...

Loafer Girl

Snagged a pair of platform loafers on Ebay that won't break the bank. I like these kinds of snags.

I picked up this little clutch at a yard sale for a buck. The lady that sold it to me tried to convince me that she was 70 something years old. My mom and I about fell in the floor with disbelief. No way - this lady looked like she was in her late fifties/early sixties - tops. So I figured if I buy her old clutch it might just be the fountain of youth. Snakeskin = fooling young people when I'm old.
