I have gotten some excellent mileage out of my trusty Woolrich black and red checked flannel. I don't see this guy going anywhere soon!

Weekend Getaway Girl
Outfit details
Flannel: Woolrich, Jeans: Lee, Camp Socks: Eddie Bauer (stolen from my hubby), Scarf: Christmas gift, Boots: L.L.Bean
The hubby and I went on a weekend getaway a few weeks ago to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We had a great time just taking in the sights, eating junk food and big breakfasts and taking tiny adventures. Just by stroke of sheer luck we visited Cades Cove on one of the sunniest and warmest days. We did the auto tour which is something I have never done - until now! I want to go back and do the biking tour sometime.
The snowiest day was spent up at Ober Gatlinburg watching the skiers from the warm ski lodge. We're heading back to Ober to take our son to snow tube in a few weeks. I'm looking forward to that. He will really love riding this tram up the mountain.
I loved watching the skiers and snowboarders. We'll be back here next weekend with my son and I'll join him snow tubing. I can do that at least!
I'm probably the worst ice skater in the world so we sat on the side lines and watched everyone else instead.
It was all about comfort and lots of layers on this adventure. I wore two pairs of leggings, a skirt, thick socks and tall boots. I had two layers on top and a warm scarf. It worked! I stayed toasty.
On the last day we ate whatever we wanted (donuts and cupcakes), did a little shopping and finished it off in the heated pool a the hotel. Our hotel wasn't fancy but it did the job. We could walk to wherever we wanted to go and we needed that after stuffing our faces with all.the.foods.
Breakfast!!! WHAAAAT?
A victorious weekend getaway!

Kimono Girl
I have had this kimono for a while but just haven't gotten around to wearing it yet. Do not ask me why. Actually, ask me. It's because my closet is a mess. It needs major help but I'm being lazy about it and rationalizing with myself that I am going to switch over to a spring wardrobe soon so why bother? Why bother cleaning up all the sweaters and scarves right now when I'm just going to be packing them up soon. But really, it's not going to be soon. Winter is here to stay for a few more weeks thanks to that pesky groundhog.
Let's see...what else. I'm still addicted to sugar. Paleo is still going strong for me. I've been posting recipes and meal photos over on Instagram. The hubby and I went to Gatlinburg last week end and I binged on bad, bad (super tasty) food and felt like crap. My skin suffered, my belly hurt, I was bloated beyond belief and felt like a whale. Was it worth it? I can't decide. Probably so. I don't know. The skin thing is what kills me because it's not like a tummy ache that goes away the next day. When my skin flares up it takes forever to get it back to normal. I was also super lazy on washing my face on vacation too. That definitely contributed to the disaster.
I am trying to make February the month I focus on fitness. My BIGGEST barrier in overall health. I have found a great hip hop dance class on Thursday nights that only costs $1 to attend. I LOVE it. I get great cardio and after an hour of dancing I feel like I have done something really fun. Fun, cheap exercise! I also have a Denise Austin Amazon Prime video that I do. I need to buy the Jillian one because she kicks my butt. Denise's is one I can do almost by memory and it hurts in just the right places at just the right amounts.

Celebration Girl
The hubs and I have had reason to celebrate lately. There has been several heavy burdens that have been gloriously lifted from us. One being finally selling our former condo after a very, very long time on the market! We decided to head out for a night on the town to treat ourselves!
This was the perfect time to break out my new faux leather joggers from H&M. We just had a store open up here and it was the first place I went with my Christmas money. I loved wearing these pants! Oh goodness. So comfy and so chic. I couldn't ask for anything more!

Cropped Girl
This cropped maroon (oxblood?) colored sweater has almost been donated many, many times. But I just can't call it quits just yet. It always talks to me and says "I know I look so 90's but I can also be rocker chic too!" So I listen to it. Each time. Yes, cropped sweater, I hear what you're saying.

Joggers Girl...finally
Now that they are old news I finally got my hands on some Joggers! Or what I like to call them: street legal pajamas. Since my clothes budget is $0 - $50 A YEAR (I kid...kinda) I don't get a round to snatching up a trend as soon as I see it. But here's the thing. I got these on MAJOR sale because the newness of the dressed up jogging pant had worn off. I really don't care if they are out of style by the time I get good wear out of them. They are so dang comfortable I just can't stop wearing them.
Outfit details:
Top: Kohl's (similar)
Joggers: Old Navy (similar) but check the store! That's where they're on sale
Boots: Seychelles

Oversized Cardigan Girl
Long time no see! I have been easily distracted this past week with little projects, catching up with friends and just the general getting back into the swing of things after the holidays. I've been trying to look presentable everyday instead of seeing how far I can get with wearing the same yoga pants every day. Oh yeah. I've done that. I've also been watching Golden Globe winning or Oscar nominated movies so I can be the couch critic that I am. I love movies. Like l-o-v-e movies. Movies like Boyhood that just blow your mind (12 years!) or ones like Birdman that were filmed in one long continuous shot. I know I would've loved to work in theatre, film or somewhere in between. It really is a passion. But I doubt I would've ever had enough nerve. Fear of being judged for my work. I would've relied too much on other people's criticism and would've psyched myself out. Sometimes while I am drifting through my life I feel as though I am behind the camera filming some ordinary documentary about an ordinary girl drifting through life. Make sense? If it does, then you and I have lots in common I bet.
What does this have to do with an oversized cardigan? Absolutely nothing. I won this men's cardigan in a game of Dirty Christmas. I love it. I love the bright cobalt and the long length. I paired it with an edgier pant because...I'm trying to wear the things I love. After this winter passes I will also be passing on clothes that I didn't wear a whole lot this season. I mean, I reach for the faux leather leggings all the time. That isn't wrong. And that doesn't mean I need to have 3 other pairs that are similar so I can rotate. Nope. I just need to wear these. Because you know what? When I'm wearing my second choice, I just think about how well my first choice would've worked. Yet again...leading me back to the capsule wardrobe idea.
