A delicious smelling air freshener made from yummy ingredients you may already have in your kitchen!
You will need:
1. Ribbon
2. an Orange
3. Whole Cloves
4. Scissors
Go ahead and cut about a yard of ribbon. I used a wider wire ribbon. You can use whatever you want to. I did notice that the wire trimmed ribbon held it's shape a little bit better but it doesn't really matter.
I folded the ribbon in half
Lay ribbon flat and place the orange in the middle
Wrap ribbon around to the top of the orange
Crossover the ribbon on the bottom of the orange and bring back to the top. Should look something like this on the bottom:
On the other end, tie a knot
Start adding the cloves...this is the wonderful part because the smell of the orange zest mixes with the cloves...ahhhh
I hung mine on the floor lamp that is right by the front door hoping that the delicious orange clove smell would be the first thing a guest would experience

this looks so simple i might try it! brilliant! one question - won't the orange start to rot or drip? how long will this last? i might just have to try and see, i love these smells, it would really go a long way in covering up dog smell and get the place feeling more holiday-ish. thanks OG.
What a great idea!
Hi Skippy! I let it sit in the cabinet for about 2 weeks before I used it but really what your suppose to do is put it in a paper bag for 3 weeks and let it get really hard and shriveled. But I just got too excited and couldn't wait any longer! But if you want one that will last years, then that's what you need to do. I might take mine back down and roll it in some cinnamon and nutmeg because I want it to be much more fragrant than it is. I thought it might be too strong for that but I think it would actually be ok.
Thanks! I probably should have mentioned to let the orange sit around for a bit.
Oops - meant to say you're
Wonderful smell... now we just need a dozen more for every room in the house, and I might as well put one in the office too :)
