And the birthday money goes to..

Eddie Bauer.
I have noticed recently that I have been reaching for my more simpler articles of clothing. Easy trousers, clean lines and that I'm getting excited about cardigans for fall. I made the mistake of glancing at Eddie's fall preview. Oops. I will be taking some of my birthday money to there this year. I will throw in a bit of girlie frilly fluff by getting that lace blouse below - but coupling it with a nice cardigan for the fall. Ooo!!

Smurf Garden

Taking inspiration from The Magic Onions my son and I worked on a little miniature garden for those sneaky little smurfs that come around after you go to bed. (Smurf garden/fairy garden - you pick!)

It was really fun to make and rather addictive. Making tiny little furniture out of sticks and odds ends around the house was exciting! Who knew?!

First Day at Kindergarten

A little nervous on the way in...

But loosened up when we got into the classroom!

My little man who I was SCARED to death to bring home from the hospital because I thought I would break him is now growing up into full blown kid. I hung out with him for a little while in the classroom then I figured I better go or I would end up staying until lunch time and the teachers would wonder if I was ever going to leave. We said our goodbyes and he was very excited. I watched him do the pledge of allegiance from the hallway and then I waved at the teacher with watery eyes. I choked back tears until I just couldn't hold it in anymore. The lady holding the door going outside asked if I was going to be ok and said "Take a deep breath mom!" I waited until I got to the safety of my car and balled my eyes out. I quickly called my mom and we balled together until we talked ourselves back into reality.

I love you Riley. Have fun on this great adventure you have begun.

Classic Girl

Blouse: Gap, Skirt: Thrifted, Shoes: Target, Necklace: Avon

Nothing too out of the box with this outfit. Just simple a simple off-white blouse with a black collar that I picked up at the Gap one day for $6.99! That makes me happy.

DIY: Binoculars for Kids

An easy craft to make with your kiddos!

  • Two toilet paper rolls that you were going to toss in the trash
  • string of yarn
  • paint
  • hot glue gun and glue
  • paint
This is one of those crafty things you can do in the middle of a Sunday afternoon when everyone is kind of silly with boredom. You can let your kiddos paint the rolls or paint them yourself. My son asked me to paint a rainbow and I love to paint so I didn't argue! But you could wrap them in cute wrapping paper or go crazy with stickers. Really the possibilities are endless. Just think of all the sparkles you could add for a little girl's set..bling bling!

The rest of the project will have to be done by the adult since hot glue has been known to burn ninety layers off of my unsuspecting fingers and scissors have to come into play.

After the rolls were painted and dried, I glued the them together down the middle with a little strip of hot glue.

I made some little holes with the scissors to stick the yarn through. I had to use a toothpick to get the yarn to get started through the hole. Tie a knot and then another couple of knots on top of each other for a good hold.

Add an ice cream and a dog and you're all set.
