A Coincidence of Sorts

I had no idea there was a Breton stripe challenge going on out there in blogorama world the past few days. But here I am wearing my stripes today and BOOM get to contribute to the "Wear Your Breton Stripes" today like I'm on auto pilot or something! I love it when my telepathic skills really start shining through...

Jessica's blog where I found out about this challenge and Kendi's blog where I found out even more!! Check out the button at the top to see like eleventy billion more girls wearing Breton. That's right.

The Gift

I came home one day last week to find a mysterious little package on the table. Inside was this beautiful grandpa cardigan! A gift from my sweetie pie. I have been pretty much wearing it nonstop. I've remixed it about 4 different ways and I can still think of plenty more. It's so very cozy. Which is perfect because when I can get out of wearing a coat I will do it in a heartbeat. I will try not to bore you with seeing it too too many times, but it just might come back around for a visit before winter leaves me.

A Different Place and Time

It feels like so long ago but it was just last October when my younger brother got married for the first time to his lovely and beautiful sweetheart, Erica. They had a small, intimate wedding in the backyard at my mom's place. It was the sweetest wedding... I took a few photos for them and I have finally got around to sharing them here. It was a gorgeous autumn day that day - the beautiful, warm sunshine and green grass with the soft, purple mums to catch the sunshine. I sincerely wish them the best of luck. Thank you guys for allowing me to share in your special day. I hope you have so many wonderful years together that when you look at each other you see your best friend looking back. Love you,

The Calm Before the Storm

Ahh...back in the day when there wasn't any snow on the ground...boy I miss those days. Well, back in the midst of another snow storm. It's all well and good, until Monday rolls around and I have to get to work or I have to get my little man home safely. Those are the two things that turn a snow storm into a hell storm really quickly. As you can see, I was addicted to wearing my Chelsea Crew boots every day after I got them. I'll have to shelve them while I trek around in the snow. Sorry to be so short - been hacking away on the laptop all day working so I'm bidding this little guy farewell for the evening and might blow off the dust and crack open a good book.

The Pub

We love our new local pub round our new neighborhood. We stopped by a few days ago. It was actually New Year's Eve, I think. We were looking to grab a little bite to eat before the NYE festivities began. He didn't have the kitchen open so... that was a bummer but it's a great place. On a Friday or Saturday night its good to go and close to home.
So the 12 inches off snow hasn't been off the ground for more than a week or so and they're calling for more. But I'm determined to completely ignore it.
I got these new Chelsea Crew boots at this local store for about $30 bucks less than what I was drooling over online. I saw them, saw the price and thought that it would be a miracle to find my size. But my size was the first one I reached for. Perfection!

New Years Festivities and Thoughts

I definitely do not have my New Year's resolutions worked out yet. And I want to make sure they are exactly what I want them to be. I want them to be realistic and attainable. One that I have announced is that I want to listen to more Joni Mitchell. I know that's kind of random but, hey.
So we had a little bit of fun downtown on New Year's Eve. I had won tickets to a show but it turned out to be quasi-boring. We couldn't stay long enough to see the main event, but by that point I was ready to see our friends and grab some party snacks. I hope all of you got to ring in the new year exactly the way you wanted to. I know I did. Now I'm ready to get started on a brand new set of 365.

Riding Horses On Thin Ice

On Thursday I tried to get some errands done since I had half of the day off. Instead of enjoying my vacation day by doing something fabulous, I went to the DMV. I went to 2 DMV's actually. The first one said their printer was down and couldn't process my application so I had to drive out to the next closest one. It was only about 20 minutes away and I really wanted to get this marked off my list because I won't have another day off for a while. While I was on the road I won some tickets on the radio to a show on NYE night. That soothed the burn of having to drive a county over to go to the DMV on my day off. I checked in, got my number and began my long wait in the gray, drab lobby. An older man sat down next to me and told me he really liked my outfit, the colors and my dotted tights. He said it reminded him of the way his sisters dressed in the 50s. We talked for a little while and I found out he had 6 sisters. He also said he would drive them crazy by telling them that while their skirt was gorgeous but their hair was terrible when they asked him how it looked. He said they ran like crazy back to the mirror to fix it and ended up teasing it higher and higher. After he had left I heard a teeny tiny frail man telling the receptionist that he was getting really excited to go to a dance on New Years Eve night. He said "There will be lots of ladies there. Two for every man!" The receptionist (being a man himself) said that it sounded like fun. That little old man left the DMV with the biggest smile on his face.

Check out this sweet little vintage horse tshirt from my fellow blogger friend Skippy Haha. She has her own etsy shop chocked full of vintage tee's and tops for men & women. Plus other fantastically cool stuff.
And just in case you can't picture yourself wearing the tee shirt, you can see what Mary Lou Retton or Tom Selleck look like wearing them
