A rainy, chilly day called for a topknot and jeans. A scarf as a necktie made this outfit a little quirky and fun.

The Invitations

Finished and in the mail! As you can see, not a lot of guests! Exactly how we wanted it.

Each one is a little different. I just grabbed my craft box and picked up a new stamp, ink pads and a calligraphy pen at the craft store and got to work. I loved how they turned out. I want to make an extra one for a scrapbook.

The azaleas in the backyard are getting ready to fully explode. They are about at 90% right now. We inherited some really great plants & garden beds when we moved in. The people before us had lived here since the house was built and they really did a good job creating a happy yard.

A Time to Remember

April 15, 2012 marks the 100th anniversary of the tragic accident that caused the great Titanic to sink. The film industry has done its part in creating a romantic fantasy about travelers aboard and showcasing the distinct difference between first, second and third class passengers. After a little research, I came across a chart that shows the percentages by class of survivors. Only 3 percent of first class women were lost compared to 54 percent in third class. Only 1 child in first class was lost but 52 children in third class didn't survive. Such a sad event and one of the most devastating disasters in history.

We went to the Register of Deeds today at lunch to get our marriage license. When we were ready to leave we were facing a major downpour with no umbrellas. A couple of sweet ladies let us borrow theirs. Good thing was, we didn't have far to go to the car. But my feet were soaked. Brian was soaked through and through. Marriage license done!

The Flea Girl

 Shirt, jeans, hat & bag: Thrifted, Oxfords: Bass

On Saturday morning we went to the flea market with high hopes of finding one or two wedding bands but we didn't. I did find some other things, though! After the market we stopped by the animal shelter and came very close to taking home a very sweet puppy. We even got as far as filling out all the paperwork but it all seemed a bit too spontaneous. And very expensive. So, we said we would think about it. 

We went to Home Depot and picked up a bunch of plants and came back to beautify the yard. A job well done.

Our spoils: $1.00 Yardley soap (I love the Lavender), milk glass candy dish, vintage North Carolina Delta Airlines playing cards (for a quarter!), milk glass vase, old candles for melting down, kiddo dvds, and shorts for Brian

Lots of pretty perennials & annuals (including a lavender plant!! Eeek!)
