Shades of Brown Girl

Knit Dress: Chadwicks, Blazer: Forever21, Wedges: Steve Madden, Scarf: Birthday gift from Lauren, Necklace & Bracelet: Silpada (thanks Tracey!)

Have you ever seen this many shades of brown?! Ok, so you probably have. I am embracing the fall leaf colors and opting for some autumnal hues in my day. I didn't think I was ready for this but turns out this outfit actually made me feel pretty good! I thought it might make me a bit on the sad side since I am not wanting to admit summer is over, but it didn't. Whew!

Mod Girl

Top, Pants: Thrifted, Boots: Madden Girl

The outfit really didn't inspire me very much but I was running late for work and grab an old standby - black pants - and ran out the door. But I tried to do something a little different with hair and makeup. I went with a more mod look with heavy black eyeliner and pink frosty lips. I pulled my hair into a high bun and held my bangs back with a wide headband. I ended up really enjoying it. Next time though, I'm going to ditch the black work pants that have been a staple in my closet since I began working in the corporate world and wear a little mod mini instead!

Little Bug's Room

I love spending time in my little boy's room. It is so bright and cheerful - full of color! Adults seem to get lost in earth tones and all neutrals when we decorate our areas but a kids room is a place to go wild!

Lime Green Jeans Girl

Pants, Blouse, Jacket & Purse: Thrifted, Pumps: Target

I really wanted to incorporate my lime green jeans that I found over the summer into the fall. I paired them with black and a polka dot top to bump up the sophistication a bit. The first time I wore these jeans I paired them with a cropped sweater and kept it casual. This time I wanted to see just what these jeans were capable of! Next challenge: work lime jeans into winter wardrobe.

The Art of Fighting Intimidation

Whenever I'm out I love to watch and see what other women are wearing. It's great to get inspiration from other gals. Sometimes this little light bulb goes off and I realize a new way to wear something or I remember something I have that I had completely forgotten about. I see something I like and I know I have to have it and I either #1) make a mental note to look for it on my next thrift store visit or #2) realized that I actually do have it, it's just in the forgotten recesses of my closet somewhere!

Unfortunately, sometimes a dark inner voice takes over and starts whispering that I'm not dressed as well as all the other ladies or that I don't quite measure up. Suddenly, I feel intimidated. I start second guessing what I have on and I get sensory overload on what I see all around me. I'm not saying this happens all the time, but when it does I have to give myself a pep talk to quit listening to that little voice that is telling me I'm not good enough. If I fall prey to the negativity, before I know it I am thinking I'm not skinny enough or I'm not inspired enough or I'm not cool enough. It's enough to make a gal cry.

Here's how I know I'm not going to listen to it. Having confidence in yourself is the coolest, sexiest, most beautiful style you will ever have. You can show your confidence by knowing that:

#1) you feel comfortable in what you are wearing
#2) you really enjoy what you are wearing
#3) what you are wearing fits your body well

then you can begin to overcome any intimidation you might feel in a crowd. It's your own style that makes you special and people will see that. When I have on something that I know I like and I feel comfortable in then I can battle those negative thoughts pretty darn well. I really enjoy seeing women that are trying something new and not just following the pack. While everyone else is wearing a teeny sundress it's fun to see a lady in a vintage 50s style dress or Audrey Hepburn style cigarette pants. It makes her stand out in a sea of unoriginality. These are the things I try to have on replay whenever I feel less than up to par. Sorry for trying to be Oprah here, I thought I would get this off my chest and share just in case there was someone else out there that might feel the same way every now and then.

Have a great week everyone!

Super Casual Girl

Jeans: Family Dollar, Suzuki Tee Shirt: Gift, Pink Tank Top: ?, Tennies: Converse

Jeans and a tee shirt - sometimes you just gotta do it. My son and I took a few minutes to relax down at the lake. It was such a beautiful day. I hate to let those days go by without trying to soak up some sun. We played in the park, played near the lake and then I watched him play with some other kiddos while I got to play with the camera. All good! Why the Suzuki tee shirt? Brian and I love to go on road trips on the Suzuki. A tee shirt, converse and jeans are the perfect outfit to wear on the ride.

One Girl's Boy

Hi sweetie. I just wanted you to know that I was thinking about you. Remember this picture of you that I love? It makes me want to cry and squeeze you tight each time I walk by it in the hall.

You are the love of my life. I am so glad I met you and that you enjoy my company. Hey - I can't say that about everyone! :)

Here's a few more of you that are A-DORABLE

Butterfly Girl

Dress: Asos (Ebay), Sandals: Target, Bracelet: Silpada

Snagged this cute little butterfly dress on Ebay. You won't catch this girl paying full price for an Asos dress! Nope. Can't do it.

I did splurge and actually buy something "new"! My Silpada bracelet from my good friend Tracey. But she is a sweetheart and had it 75% off! The best Silpada saleswoman ever.
