Another Day Another Vintage Tee

Top: Vintage thrifted, Jeans: Walmart, Shoes: Van, Belt: Thrifted

I sure do love a vintage tee shirt! I found this one at a local college dorm clean out day...for free! Kids leave all kinds of things behind and in the days before COVID the college would post on Craigslist the day for the dorm room clean out. You could go stand in a line and wait for the doors to open. After that it was a free for all and you just grabbed what you could. I have gotten SO many good things over the years.

Mingo Falls, Cherokee NC

I have a deep love for waterfalls. Fortunately, I live in an area that has tons and tons of them! One of my favorite things to do is set out on a Saturday or Sunday morning on an adventure with a hike with a fantastic waterfall payoff in the end!

This time I chose Mingo Falls in Cherokee, NC. It is located inside the Qualla Boundary in Western North Carolina. Don't know what that is? Here is an excerpt from www.VisitCherokeenc.com

The Qualla Boundary – The Original Home of the Cherokee

The Qualla Boundary is the home of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Cherokee people do not live on a reservation, which is land given to a native American tribe by the federal government. Instead, in the 1800’s, the tribal members purchased 57,000 acres of property. This land, called the Qualla Boundary, is owned by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and kept in trust by the federal government. Qualla Boundary encompasses untouched mountains, rivers, and forests and is located next to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

I have an ongoing "Waterfalls Bucketlist" and seeing Mingo Falls felt great to check off the list. The falls are about 1.5 hours from our house which made a perfect little road trip. We grabbed hot coffee, a light breakfast and enjoyed the scenery. It's not difficult to get to. In fact, the trailhead is very near a popular KOA campground that we have stayed at before.

The hike to the falls is short with the bulk of it being a long flight of stairs. The trail is well maintained and the falls are very easy to get to.

I just shot these photos with my iphone so, trust me, it does not do the natural beauty justice!

Oversized Tee

Tee: Vintage/Thrifted, Shorts: h&m, Sandals: Teva Midform

Oversized tee shirts have taken over my closet! I quickly grabbed this 90s NASCAR tee from the thrift store a few months back and I wear it all the time but just never grabbed a photo!

Back to School

Back to school…in my vintage tshirt from my very own high school! My mother-in-law gave this to me because, believe it or not, she WAS my English teacher! Little did I know that many, MANY years down the road my English teacher from the mid 90s would be my mother-in-law! I love it! I guess it’s just the chances when you live in a small town! Or is it fate? I’ll choose to believe the more romantic option, thank you.

We are homeschooling again this year so that first year "freak out" feeling isn't looming over me quite as much. My son is a freshman this year and I'm still a little nervous because, let's face it, I don't have a fancy degree in Education! Covid has put a halt on a lot of meetup groups and small co-ops. On a more positive note I do love the software we use and I'm enjoying creating and sourcing supplemental material. I LOVE the field trips too. Can't wait to head to Raleigh for the NC Museum of Natural Sciences!

I can't promise how consistent I can be on posting over here on the blog but I'll try! I'm still wearing all the summer things as I squeeze out the last little bits of summer. We start homeschool on Monday and I am so sad to see the summer break go!!! I guess I have one foot in summer and one foot in fall because I have already started drinking all things Pumpkin Spice. I have an instagram page dedicated to All Things Dunkin called Dunkin.Orders! Here's a little bit of what's been happening over there...

I grabbed some Dunkin Pumpkin for home brewing...

Had a Pumpkin Iced Coffee that was SO GOOD

And a Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew that was yums. It's a good option if you don't like your iced coffee too sweet.

Don't forget to try the Pumpkin Muffin. Don't!

If you wanna follow the Dunkin adventure, head over to my Dunkin instagram.

Peace, Love and Pumpkins!
