Style Watch: Liv Tyler

Style Watch: Liv Tyler

The classic nautical look is without a doubt one of my most favorite. Prove it? Well, I ended my shopping ban two weeks early because I was 5 hours away from my house and found the perfect pair of sailor pants at a Goodwill. So there you have it. Nautical look broke the ban. I proved it. Here's my take on it:

Most of the time my son is with me when I take outfit photos. He is a big helper and usually takes some time at the end to take some photos of himself. He loves using the remote.

Granola Girl

Top: UO, Sweater: ?, Pants: Gift, Sandals: Vintage, Necklace: Silpada

The Heidi braids, the vintage sandals, the flowy top & the muted colors - makes me feel closer to my granola side. I flip flop so much from retro to business casual to free spirit I think some people would think I'm not true to enough to one style. I kind of like to dabble in a little bit of everything but I never want to steal anyone's thunder. Hopefully no one gets offended by the word granola! I think it's the perfect word to describle all of the above I'm wearing.

Coral Girl

sweater, skirt & accessories: thrifted, wedges: Target, bag: Charming Charlie's (gift)

Boy, I can never turn down a coral number. Sweater, shoes, jewelry - I am always drawn to the coral or salmon colors. I think they work the best with my skin tones too. I seem to get compliments about looking nice when I wear these types of warm colors. It must give me more of a warm glow. Who knows! Ha! I just know that I feel happier and maybe that makes me smile more. And maybe that makes people like me more. And maybe that leads me to picking the right powerball numbers. And that leads me to winning the lottery.

Coral = winning money.

Wish List

Wish List

I realize I'm a bit too much of a pear shape to pull off polka dots on my lower half in pants form but that doesn't stop me from drooling over them.

Around the House: Fresh

I surrounded myself with fresh flowers this weekend. There is something about passing by a rose and getting a delicate whiff of it's beautiful smell.

I snipped off a few tiny blooms of the hydrangea. I know I will have more soon!

A Day Alone Girl

Dress: Walmart, Belt & Bag: Vintage, Sandals: Target, Sunnies: Gift from hubby

Last Saturday I spent the whole day doing whatever I wanted to. No kids and the hubby had to work. I was lazy but did a few crafts and went out thrifting. It was hot hot hot outside so I finished the afternoon sipping wine and watching Netflix. It was exactly what I needed after a wild crazy time at the beach. And by wild and crazy I mean I had the same bed time as my five year old each night because we were wore slap out.

Cherry Grove Pier Girl (and fam)

After a short trip to a long pier, we went to the carnival/fair/majorly loud ride area where we rode the ferris wheel and waved at Pap (that's what we all call Brian so my son doesn't get that confusing my-two-dads scenario when Brian's son calls him dad - completely confused?)

Surviving Summer Girl

Top: Thrifted, Bathing Suit: Modcloth, Sandals: Target, Hat: beach shop

Bathing Suits.
Ok. So we all know it's going to happen. At some point in time I want to have fun in the sun and the water and I'm going to have to wear a bathing suit. Not something I feel the most comfortable wearing.
What I love about vintage suits is the way they are cut. They tend to flatter a fuller figure which is just what I need. But even if you are blessed with a slender figure, they can give you some added curves.
I added the white and red gingham top because honestly, I got too much sun on my chest on Monday. But it really ended up making me feel more comfortable because it added some definition on top which kind of balanced out my larger bottom half. I kind of stumbled upon something I might repeat on purpose. I felt very comfortable hiding under my humongous hat and cat eye sunglasses! My husband made me feel very beautiful and I let my guard down so he could take these photos. People were walking by too so I am very surprised I let loose!

thanks sweets for taking the photos, you always make me feel like I am the prettiest girl in the room

Garlic Naan Pizza

A few nights ago I decided to try making some homemade pizza. I have made pizza at home but I never have really been thrilled with the results. I have been craving garlic naan so I decided we needed to have pizza for dinner. Again. But this time I wanted it to be tastier.

A little bit of olive oil drizzled over the naan. Pop in the oven for a few minutes.

After a few minutes in the oven, I loaded them up with marinara sauce.

And here is the ingredient that I have been missing my whole life - Ricotta cheese!

Add whatever toppings you want. I added fresh tomatoes, mozarella and fresh kale.

Pop in the oven and BAM! Yummy - and I mean yummy - pizza

Hot Pink Girl

Top, Necklace & Wedges: Target, Jeans: Thrifted, Bracelets: yard sales

A fun, bright outfit that I wore on the last day at work before vacation. I just had to celebrate. This is the first time I've had a week off in a year. A celebration!

We just got back from spending all day at the water park. It was pretty tough to get Riley to leave at the end of the day. I had to fib a bit and say they were getting ready to close. When in reality they were going to be open for about another hour. But we had already been there for six hours! Honestly, I had the best time! It was so much fun riding slides and getting ridicously wet. Brian got a couple of shots on his camera of the retro/practical outfit I wore and I hope they turn out. I kind of embraced the fact that I would be looking "crazy mom being wet" and trying to have some sort of style. We'll see!
